Did you know there is something that Almighty God wants you to hate? Let us consider Proverbs 8:13, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the froward mouth do I hate.” If you read from the beginning of chapter 8, you will find wisdom personified and speaking divine truth. Clearly, the Christian is required to hate evil. We can hate evil without hating evil people. Question: do you hate evil? Do you hate sin? I hope so, because the Almighty requires it of us. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. If you do not hate evil, then you are not completely where you should be with Almighty God. If you do not hate evil, then you are not properly reverencing YaHVeH.
You have heard the saying, “Love the sinner, but hate the sin?” This is a true statement and it is doable. You can love a sinner and at the same time hate what the sinner is doing. The secular world does not like it, if you use the Holy Bible to point out sin. They like to refer to this as intolerance. The secular world wants Christians to be loving and to keep their mouths shut. They are okay with us believing whatever we want to believe, but they want us to accept their sinful behavior. Christ Himself instructs us differently. Christ said, “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted. It is henceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” It is our duty as Christians to salt the earth. We are not to hide our lights, but we are to shine our lights upon this sinful world. This makes the world uncomfortable, because it loves the darkness more than it loves light. But notice what was said, “If the salt has lost its saltiness, then it has become worthless. Question: Have you lost your saltiness? If you as a Christian no longer share Christ and the Holy Bible with those around you, then you have become good for nothing. If you allow the world to make you so tolerant, that you accommodate evil, then you have very likely lost your saltiness.
In First Corinthians 13:6 we find these words, “Love does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.” True love delights in the truth. We must not buy into the false notion, that we are to be silent, so as not to offend. Love will seek to rescue those who are about to perish, and you cannot rescue sinners without sharing the truth with them. Yahshua Jesus is the truth! In sharing the truth, you will appear to many to be an intolerant person. but the fear of the LORD is to hate evil. So then, love the homosexual, but hate homosexuality. Love the person who obtains an abortion, but hate the killing of unborn babies. Love the adulterer, but hate adultery. Love the lazy person, but hate slothfulness. Love the spreader of gossip, but hate gossip. Love the liar, but hate lying. Love the drunkard, but hate drunkenness. Love those who follow other gods, but hate false religion. In essence, hate evil. Do not allow yourself to become comfortable with sin. On purpose, rejoice in good things and be grieved with sin. Openly disapprove of sin. Do not accommodate sin. Don’t allow your home or any of your assets to support or accommodate sin. Do not support legislation that accommodates sin. Do not cast your vote for politicians, who wink and nod at sin. Being a hater of evil is well-pleasing to Almighty God.
