Before Christ willfully went to the cross, He had one last supper together with His disciples. Christ broke the bread and gave to His disciples saying: “This is my body which is given for you. THIS DO IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.” (emphasis mine) Pause and consider.
He asked His disciples to not forget Him. Christ, the Son of God, the Savior of the world, purposefully and willingly sacrificed Himself in your place and in my place. Though you and I deserved to be crushed unmercifully for our sins, Christ was crushed instead. Christ did such a thorough job of rescuing us from disaster, that it almost seems like we were never in any sort of peril. Stop and ponder!
Christ asks all of us to remember Him. As you and I go through our daily routines, we think precious little about what could have been. If not for Christ, we WOULD be suffering eternally RIGHT NOW! Halt all activity for a few seconds and remember. Integrity compels us to ongoing gratitude.
Oftentimes when we pray, we rush in and out of Almighty God’s presence. In fact, I think we have sort of made it a way of life. I have been trying to practice coming before Him in less of a rush. I may still go into His presence for short periods of time, but I try to be in less of a rush. HE IS ALMIGHTY GOD. I should treat Him as a king, for He is the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. I try to pause, even if for only a few moments, and REMEMBER HIM. It is important to Almighty God, that we remember Him and not take Him for granted.
You and I like to be remembered by people, and we are mere mortals. How much more should we remember the Ancient of Days? Remember this, we were created in the image and likeness of the Almighty. We have feelings, because He has feelings. If we take Him for granted long enough, it can hurt His feelings, but when we pause to REMEMBER HIM, it pleases Him. He appreciates this. Be still before Him in the fastest part of the day and show your gratitude for His great love to you.
