Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down yourself to them nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6)
It is a sin to bow to an image or idol, even if it is an image of Mary the mother of Yahshua Jesus. It is a sin to bow to an image of Buddha. It is a sin to bow to an image of Christ. Notice, the text says, that He is a jealous God. He is the true and living God. It is only proper to bow to Almighty God; otherwise, we can just tear out the pages of Exodus chapter 20 in the Holy Bible. It does not matter if any preacher or priest or bishop or friend or relative or even the pope himself says it is okay, it is still sin. WHY? Almighty God inspired the answer right there in Exodus chapter 20. Almighty God is jealous and He alone is God. He desires that all worship be directed solely to Him. Just as a loving boyfriend or girlfriend will get jealous if you share your affections with another, so too Almighty God gets jealous if we reverence or worship anything or anyone in place of Him.
If you have been doing this, because no one ever told you different, then please read these passages in the Holy Bible. The Almighty will readily forgive you of this sin, if you will confess it to Him. (I John 1:9) There are many traditions of men, that the Almighty is not pleased with. Just because some preacher or saint did something in the past, does not make it an okay thing to do now. We must conform our actions to the teachings of the Holy Bible. Some traditions of men seem so right, when we have not been preached the truth, but if the Holy Bible forbids any certain practice, then WE MUST NOT ENGAGE IN THAT PRACTICE. He will help you do what is right, if you will seek His help diligently.
Psalms 106:36, “And they served their idols, which were a snare unto them.”
Revelation 9:20, “And the rest of the men that were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk.
Almighty God will hear you, when you pray to Him sincerely out a heart of truthfulness. He honors those who honor Him. First Samuel 2:30.
Whoever has a ear to hear, let them hear what the Holy Spirit is saying; and also, don’t be surprised if some religious people get upset with you for honoring the Almighty by not bowing to their idols/images.
