Denominations divide the “Body of Christ”.
Ephesians 4:3-6, “Endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all….”
Denominations do not keep the unity of the Spirit: they divide. There are several things that all Christians should and must be in agreement about: #1. Humans are born with a sinful nature and we have all sinned. We are all worthy of eternal damnation and are unfit to go to heaven. #2. Yahshua Jesus is the Messiah, the spotless Lamb of God. #3. Christ the Messiah was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary and sinless. #4. Christ the Messiah died on the cross for your sins and mine. #5. Almighty YaHVeH raised Christ from the dead on the third day. #6. Christ will return for His bride the Church at the appointed time of the heavenly Father. #7. The Holy Bible is completely trustworthy, for it is inspired by the Holy Spirit Himself. #8. True Christians should be actively building the “Kingdom of Almighty God. #9. Blatant sin is intolerable and the Church must never tolerate it among their own.
Some of these blatant sins are as follows: worshiping and serving false gods, idol worship, murder, rape, homosexuality, blasphemy, adultery, theft, covetousness, misusing the Almighty’s name, abortion in general, bearing false witness, dishonoring parents.
#1. Whoever does not believe we have a sinful nature and that we have all sinned, does not believe we need a Savior. By their disbelief they minimize the importance of Christ’s death on the cross. #2. Whoever does not believe that Yahshua Jesus is the Messiah and that He was born into the world as a man, is not of God (First John 4:2-3). It is impossible for a Christian to be in unity with such a person, for as it says in the same passage, a person who does not believe this is of the spirit of anti-Christ. #3. Whoever does not believe that Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, evidently does not believe that Christ was sinless. To speak such a thing is blasphemy. If Christ was not sinless, then He cannot possibly save me from my sins, and this is at the very heart of the gospel. Christ, who knew no sin, became sin in our place, that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ. #4. Whoever does not believe that Christ died on the cross for our sins, evidently does not believe that the plan of salvation has been accomplished by the Messiah. If this is not true, then the preaching of the gospel is foolishness and we will not escape eternal damnation. #5. Whoever does not believe that Christ rose from the dead, does not have faith in Almighty God, for Romans 10:9 says this is a requirement for salvation. #6. Whoever does not believe that Christ will return for His bride the Church, apparently does not believe that God offers us eternal life through Christ the Messiah. #7. Whoever does not believe in what the Holy Bible says, apparently does not believe that Almighty God delivered His word to us and that it can be trusted. #8. Whoever does not believe that we are required to do our part in building the Kingdom of God, apparently does not believe that we are useless if we do not do our duty to be salt/light (Matthew 5:13). #9. Whoever approves of blatant sin or takes an attitude of “it is okay for people to do whatever they want to do as long as it does not harm me”, does not accept the fact, that Almighty God is a holy righteous God and that He hates sin.
It is possible that I may have missed a basic truth in my list; however, please do not miss the point. Christians should all agree on these basic truths. It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, for a true sincere Christian to have unity with anyone who does not accept these 9 foundational truths. If believers focused on these 9 essential truths, we would not need denominations. The Church would be tenfold more powerful if they were in unity instead of denominationally divided. I hate denominations and I refuse to be forced into taking sides in this fashion. We are supposed to be one in Christ. We are to pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In heaven there are no denominations.
