The Sixth Seal

downloadTake careful note of this passage in Matthew 24: “And as Jesus sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately.  They said: Tell us when shall these things be and what shall be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the world?”

Notice the question they asked: What shall be the sign of Your coming? The disciples wanted to know when Christ would return. He answers them in the same chapter in verses 29 and 30: “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give of its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the power of the heavens shall be shaken, and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven.” You can read about this same event in Luke 21 and in Mark 13.

Christ clearly presents four phenomena that signal His imminent return. It is important you realize, that all four of these must take place. If one of these phenomena presents itself and not the other three, then it is not yet time for Christ’s return. If three of them come to pass and not the fourth; it is not time.  I want to reiterate. All four of these will take place at the time of Christ’s return.

Some people say that there are no unfulfilled prophecies preventing the return of Yahshua Jesus; however, these four prophesied phenomena have not yet been fulfilled. Christ Himself spoke of them preceding His return to the earth. Most of the rest of Matthew 24 is devoted to warning us to be ready, because we don’t know the day nor the hour of Christ’s return.

The plot thickens. Read this passage in Revelation 6: “And I beheld when He had opened the sixth seal and behold there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood. And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth even as a fig tree casts its untimely figs when shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together, and every mountain and island were moved from their places.” The description in Revelation is breathtakingly similar to the one in Matthew, Mark and Luke.  Apparently Christ prophesied of His return to the earth as being soon after the opening of the sixth seal.

The plot thickens yet again. Read this passage in Joel 3: “The sun and the moon shall be darkened and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The LORD also shall roar out of Zion and utter His voice from Jerusalem. The heavens and the earth shall shake but the LORD will be the hope of His people and the strength of the children of Israel”.

It seems very clear that all five of these passages are speaking of the same event.  It will be among the most intriguing times in all of history. In the passages I mentioned there are references to the sun turning dark, the moon darkened like blood or blushing, stars falling, the heavens and earth shaking, the sea and the waves roaring, anxiety of nations in a quandary and men’s hearts failing them out of fear of what they are seeing. Actually Isaiah 24 has similar signs including the earth reeling to and from like a drunkard, the moon confounded and the sun ashamed.

Luke 21:28 says to look up when these things begin to come to pass because your redemption draws nigh. Christ our Redeemer will gather His Church from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. In the mean time we best brace ourselves for what is to come and cement our trust in Christ.

Thank you so very much. I will enjoy this and I see we are on the same page with the Events yet to come. Keep up the good word for the sake of our Messiah, Jesus Christ.

  2. Hey Mickey,
Jesus said He is coming after after we see the abomination of desolation and after the tribulation, which is not the generally accepted teaching in the church today. Here is some interesting scripture to study which ties in some time after the time-line you mentioned – Rev. 20:4-6. In verse 4 these souls were beheaded durning the tribulation and did not receive the “mark of the beast.” …”and they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the FIRST RESURRECTION.” There has not been another resurrection until this. The first means the first and there is not a second mentioned that I have found. These saints went through the tribulation. Anyone else understand it this way?
PRAISE THE NAME OF JESUS! Help us be ready!

    • Hi Jim. Good to hear from you. In Mark 13:24 and Matthew 24:29 there is the phrase: “after the tribulation of those days”. This does not mean after the seven years, but after the anguish/burden/pressure/tribulation that results from the placement of the abomination of desolation. There is still a portion of the seven years remaining afterwards.
Also, Revelation 2:26-29 is addressed to the Church at Thyatira, but I believe it is also addressed to THE CHURCH at large including us. Christ says in this passage that the ones who overcome to the end will rule the nations with a rod of iron (the 1000 years). I believe it means all those who overcome unto the end will be kings and priests unto Almighty God including those beheaded for the witness of Christ. Thanks, Mickey
